Circumstance and a rare stroke of compassion afforded a young Veena woman refuge in the shallow edges of the Golmore Jungle where she would eventually make herself home, eventually giving birth to the only other Veena in a village of Rava. Born a runt, smaller and weaker than other kits her age, Kiona grew up sheltered - safe, if not somewhat lonely. Between her mothers keeping her from straying far and the other villagers keeping her at arm's length, her dreams of setting out and seeing the outside world felt like a constant itch.Kiona lost her best friend when her older brother Kouneli left the clan - without him, she felt more alone than ever, cementing her decision to leave someday. Knowing she might not be welcome back, she slipped out quietly to find passage to Eorzea. Making her way through the world, she keeps journals of her travels, gathering stories to write home to her mothers, if she can ever figure out how.Her first attempt at integrating herself into Eorzean life ended in abject failure: she trained as a field medic before joining the conjurers' guild in Gridania, during which she discovered a certain sensitivity to aether that left her feeling pain or sickness if she attempted to use it for healing. Having never learned any other magic and fearful of the side effects, she left the guild and started busking to get by. Kiona couldn't be a healer, but she could pluck the strings of the lute her brother gifted her years ago and hit the road to see new sights.Her true passion, clothwork, found her a permanent residence in Ul'dah. Grand companies' bulk orders for anything from standard-issue long johns to formal dress gloves give her steady work, while her cozy workshop, Atelier Kiona, lets her explore more creative designs for discerning patrons. But you won't find her home too often, her insatiable wanderlust evergreen.
